RGV’s latest movie ‘D company’ was released on his own OTT platform ‘SPARK” yesterday. The film has garnered a decent attention from the audience mainly due to RGV’s obsession with the underworld. Hence, let’s see how the movie was..

Synopsis:

The story of D company is quite simple. It is the narration of how a small size goon Dawood turned into a world famous mafia don Dawood Ibrahim.

Actors’ performance:

Ashwant Kanth as Dawood Ibrahim looks pathetic at the beginning of the film but ends up with a convincingly good performance. Though his acting seems okay, a better known face would have made the character look lively. All others are okay in their respective roles.

Until now, the department where RGV never failed was casting. But this time, his analysis seems to have gone wrong. There must have been enough known faces while making a film on the most famous characters in the underworld. Little known actors playing the world famous characters makes the film look dull.

Technical Departments:

Cinematography by V. Malharbhat Joshi is superb as he showcased 1980’s Mumbai in a real way. And also BGM needs a special mention as it elevates some important scenes in the film. Editing is good considering the run time of the film but the film seems to be pacing quite slow. But this mainly accounts to RGV’s style of taking, not much to editor’s fault. Production values are pretty decent just like RGV’s previous films.

Coming to the direction department, ‘D Company’ is comparatively a better film RGV has made in the recent times. These type of biopic films need some interesting moments to attract the audience and RGV made sure of those scenes being included in the film. But the proceedings look quite slow and boring. It seems that somewhere RGV lost the connection with the audience. A movie is all about playing with the emotions of the audience, but RGV seems to have lost that grip in the middle of his career. If RGV still sticks to this style of film making, he may never succeed in convinving the audience. The film looks quite flat and boring. RGV sir, please stop concentrating only on actors’ makeup and performances and start keeping efforts on good writing.

And lastly, voice over by RGV is quite aloud and long.

Postives:

A few interesting moments

cinematography

Negatives:

Direction

Flat screenplay

Voiceover by RGV

Unknown faces

Highlights:

BGM

Analysis:

On the whole, D company is a film to watch only if you are a fan of RGV kind of movies. Others find it simply boring and even irritating at parts.

One line Verdict: A boring flick
