After quite a long time, Allari Naresh presented himself to the audience in the lead character through the film Naandhi. It got released in theatres this weekend. Let’s see whether it stands upto the audience’s expectations or not..

Synopsis:

Surya(Allari Naresh) is a software engineer who leads a happy life with parents and a fiancee. Suddenly, one days he gets arrested in the murder of a social activist which makes his life turn upside down. Fortunately, a lawyer(Varalakshmi Sarathkumar) bails him out of the case using the section 211 of IPC. Thereafter how Surya takes revenge on the culprits who entangled him in the murder case using the same section 211 forms the rest of the story.

Actors’ Performance:

Allari Naresh, as a poor guy who gets entangled in the murder case involuntarily is quite impressive. After ‘Nenu’, it was his best performance till date. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar as a lawyer is splendid on the screen. Her dialogue delivery and screen presence adds much to the film. Srikanth Iyengar has also shown his presence felt on the screen. Praveen as Allari naresh’s friend is superb. Priyadarshi has got a good role and he lived the character to its best. And all others are adequate in their respective roles.

Technical Departments:

Special mention in the technical team must be given to cinematography work. The lighting used in the jail scenes elevates the mood of the scenes. Background score would have been better since there is not much scope for songs. Editing is good but could have been better considering the slow pace of second half. Production values are quite impressive.

Coming to the director, Vijay Kanakamedala has scored distinction with his impressive direction as well as screenplay. How he presented Allari Naresh in such a dark character is quite appreciable. He made sure everything worked well in the concept of IPC section 211. But he also should have taken care of the second half. The proceedings go flat during the second half and also one would expect a gripping courtroom drama seeing the strong faces as lawyers but get disappointed. Otherwise, it would have become a trendsetter movie in the genre of courtroom dramas.

Plus Points:

Allari Naresh Performance

Section 211 premise

Minus Points:

Slow second half

Deviating from a gripping courtroom drama

Highlights:

Varalakshmi Sarathkumar screen presence and her voice(dialogue delivery)

Analysis:

‘Naandhi’ has a very good premise and an excellent first half. But things go slow during the second half and ends with an uninteresting climax. One would expect a gripping courtroom drama seeing the two strong faces as lawyers but things get deviated when politicians get involved in the matter. If you could bare the relatively slow second half, Naandhi would definitely be a worthy watch this weekend especially for the splendid perfomances of Allari Naresh and Varalakshmi.

One line Verdict: Missing gripping courtroom drama
